Shoot the Piano Player (1960)

I enjoyed this much beloved early film by Truffaut, but need to give it another spin before I rank it with The 400 Blows or Jules and Jim.

Isn't it a shame that Truffaut kinda went downhill after these three films?

Yeah, I hate to say it, but I'd have to agree--with the exception of the Dionel films (and, again, with the exception of the exception of Love on the Run as it wasn't too hot). His films after that that I've seen are always interesting and finely made, but lack the impact of those earlier efforts.

And yet for some reason he's considered to be one of the greatest directors of all time. I like him, but I don't really see it.
